Osprey 25 April Salt Point, sea level, Sonoma Co., Calif. Saw an Osprey fly across Pt. 1, going toward shore, which is 150 yds W. 15 min. later, saw bird goin the other way, carrying a shiny silver fish in its talons - fish nearly 1/2 length of bird. It flew behind a grove of pines, into the valley. 2.9 mis, 3.7 mi. E. Stewart's Point, sea level, Sonoma Co., Calif. All day here, saw ospreys with fish curling to gain altitude, flyin N.E. Would guess that every half hour one next past. Fish all carried in talons, so head points forward. Fish usually about length 1/2 tail of bird, or slightly more. 3 wooded miles E Stewart's Point, Sonoma Co., Calif. - The store keeper at Stewart's point directed me here, to see 3 osprey nests. Drew a map. He owns this land. It is logged redwood forest, lots of slash, very rugged. Several standing tall trees, up to 100 ft. Logged 5+65 years ago. Found 1 nest, saw no activity of ospreys.
