Babs 1960 Journal 17. June 16 Crescent Lake, 4250+ft., Klamath Co., Ore. - Get up at 4:30, just getting light. Had 1 Plovers in a trap. Hiked up the road to Summit Lake, from 5 till 8. The forest is about lemon! For the first hour + a half, saw only 3 birds & anda? few others. Very overcast, and got rather windy. Most of the trip back was in a drizzle. Finally shot a g juno + one of 2 Clark Nutcrackers I saw, those nearly back to camp. It was overcast all morning, clearing occasionally, then sun quite hot when it came out. It sprinkled off and on, showering rather hard once. Broke camp at noon. Nothing new in the bird line list, except Nutcracker. Found Solitairia nest, + juno nest. Tree swallows nesting in the camp. Fried fishin in camp just before I left. Drove to Crescent, then on rt. 97 to Bend. At Bend went west on Century Drive. Made camp at Elk Lake, just 1 mi S of my map, Three Sisters Road, 4565, 1932. All roads off the Century Drive, and this is the only accessed campground open. It is a very nice camp, best on the trip. It is very cold this evening - coldest so far. Todd Lake, 19 mi. W, 1/2 mi. S Bend, 6100+ft., Deschutes Co., Oregon. Drove to the junction of the road to Sisters, and walked around the edge of the meadow. Then walked up the road, past Todd Lake. Birds are scarce, only a few species seen. There is extensive meadow at the junction of this road and Century Drive, and north
