there are no White-nomed Sparrows on this part of Mt.
June 14 Shasta. Broke camp and left early this morning.

Last night just after I went to bed, heard a scraping on the
bark of nearby tree. Shined my light, got just a glimpse
of eye shine. A flying squirrel?
This day was a complete waste. Drove down to Mt.
Shasta (City), did some chores + had a grease job. Had to
replace 2 badly cut tires. Went back on Rt 99 to McCord,
took the road toward Mud Creek Pass. Couldn't make
it - went on to the Military Pass Road. I've never seen
two such dusty roads! They were bowling loops over
Military Pass Road, and it was in bad shape. But I
