Bogard Campground, 5600' ft, Lassen Co., Calif.
June 9 There are a lot of birds in the area -- with the
variety of habitat there is a good variety of species.
June 10 The people will not permit me to go into their
pasture, which is all the meadow-willow
area. Have been in twice, + here heard the only
White-crow n for on the trip. There are
millions of insects in camp. Went out last night
+ called horned owls. Heard 4, saw 2. No bats.
Set 5 mus. specials + 3 gopher sets in meadow last
night, no luck. Hunted around this morning, also
little luck. It's extremely cloudy now, + dark,
looks like a storm coming from the west. After
supper took a ride around this end of the flat, following

the arrows on the map. There has been lots of recent
clearing near the roads, + there is a stack of water pipe
near the NW corner of the map, as the some project were
underway. The sage, with occasional grassy areas, is
more extensive than I originally thought.

mouse traps in sage near camp. Overcast till
