Banks 1960 Journal 12. Bogard Campground, 5600' ft, Lassen Co., Calif. June 9 There are a lot of birds in the area -- with the variety of habitat there is a good variety of species. June 10 The people will not permit me to go into their pasture, which is all the meadow-willow area. Have been in twice, + here heard the only White-crow n for on the trip. There are millions of insects in camp. Went out last night + called horned owls. Heard 4, saw 2. No bats. Set 5 mus. specials + 3 gopher sets in meadow last night, no luck. Hunted around this morning, also little luck. It's extremely cloudy now, + dark, looks like a storm coming from the west. After supper took a ride around this end of the flat, following N E P.S. flat fenced area home old P.S. camp logging rd. forest flat forest the arrows on the map. There has been lots of recent clearing near the roads, + there is a stack of water pipe near the NW corner of the map, as the some project were underway.
