From Susanville I could see to the SE a range with a good bit of snow on top and lots of bare ground. After getting lost several times in the valley, I found a road over Diamond Mt. - road eventually goes to Westwood. Finally established a camp about 7 p.m., about 1/4 mi. down (E) from the summit. Forest here is White Spruce and Yellow Pine, with many good sized trees and good replacement in the clearings. On top there is an extensive bare area, apparently natural. This is covered by Willow and grass, rather sparse. On the N side of the highest part there is sage brush. There are patches of snow in gulles on the N facing slopes.
