Got a singing [illegible] These animals run 292-294. After shining all day had some extra try - shot a Myiarchus in camp. Just after dark got a Pompsus boyleri in a trap in camp.
During the day missed a long shot at a thrasher, probably Cincal; Red got one. It got very cloudy late in the afternoon, and sprinkled rain just after dark.
Bewick Wrens are fairly common, many singing in the area. Some of them sound remarkably like Say Sparrows, but the latter are heard only close to the river, the wrens farther back in drier brush. Gila Woodpeckers appear more common than the Ladder-back, but it may be because they are noisier. Verdins are very common, and there are many old nests around. The Myiarchus are around every cottonwood, and Vermilion flycatchers are common. The Andalus Wailles are going past in flocks up to 10, but the one I got was alone. A lot of Swallows were around all day, fewer in the p.m., looked like Cliff but I couldn't be sure. Saw a Black Phoebe, [illegible] Sauris nigricans just after getting up, and followed him up near but couldn't get a shot. Saw some Abet Towhee's early this morning but couldn't get a shot - very many kinds. Heard some Harlel Kwal about the same time, and a little later heard what was probably a Roadrunner, from Neel's imitation. A Horned Owl was singing from about
