Up at Send of strip, areas of grass have been grazed heavily by sheep, + form a lawn-like patches. Several deep gulches have worked up from the coast - these are filled with dense brush - willow, etc. There is no Baccharis or similar brush, as in Marin Co., e.g.. The day was overcast, with drizzle + mist much of the time. Sun shone briefly 3 or 4 times all day. Species seen in this locality: Western Bull dog shore, Allen Hummingbird, Paleolated Warbler,
Orange-crowned Warbler, Song Sparrow, Western Flycatcher, Osprey, California Trail, Whew-kit, Flicka,
Stellar Jay, Western Bluebird, Chestnut-backed Chickadee,
Belted Kingfisher, Cedar Waxwing (flock in Eucalyptus)
Hermits Thrush, Vaux Swift, Barn Swallow, Turkey Vulture, Raven, Brewer Blackbird, heard 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet. This ranch belongs to people named Osborne, distant relatives of Jone Hogaden,
invertebrate student here.
Saw several elder
Broadmiles & Stewart's Point, Sonoma Co., Calif.
Went there to look for Osprey nests. No activity.
Area was logged 5 years ago. Brushy redwood forest.
Distance from BM 109 (Stewart's Point quad, 7-1/2"', 1944) to
BM 140 (Plantation quad, 7-1/2"', 1943). Latter point is in area worked.
