25 April Salt Point, sea level, Sonoma Co., Calif.
Left Brough Jam, nr. Santa Rosa, at 6A.M., reached coast (Rt. 1) at mouth of Russian Rive about 7. Proceeded north, but because of detor thru hills around 1st Pass + Sea Vein, lost track of exact locality. West of the coast here is steep rocky. Just behind the shore, a strip of grassland, usually sheep grazed, extends ½-1 mile. Little or no brush, even along fences. Other places, pines go down almost to water. White-crowned Sparrows are spotty in distribution all along. Have seen these species today: Amer Goldfinch, Great Blue Heron, Western Bull Song Sparrow, Redwing Raven, Barn Swallow (Vanx Smith), Osprey, Western Bluebird, House Finch, Orange-Crusted Warbler. Weather - miserable.
Fairly cold, overcast, light rain- drizzling all morning so far. Above written i 8:45 am. Also saw Turkey Vulture. Now, at 9:15, raining fairly hard.
