May 1 2.2 mi NW Bolinas, 300ft., Marin Co. Calf.-
Found a spined animal, dead a long
while, in a Buncharis - sage field which
is sometimes pastured by cattle. It was
well dried and mostly skeletonized. Saved
the skull only as REB 4/6. Earlier in the
day a short ways away saw a close
fawn in pasture with cattle, near
road. She jumped fence, but the fawn
couldn't get thru - she crossed road
and up the hill, leaving the fawn.
June 25 4 mi S Ladysmith, Vancouver Is., B.C.
Today saw what appeared to be a
pair of fawns - small animals - in
a cleared forest front area. One had
a set of spines in velvet.
