July 10 Kaiser Pass Meadow, 9100 ft., Fresno Co., Calif. - Around the edge of the meadow, where it is drier, and near the road, are a number of holes of this animal. Often I heard their series of whistled notes "------", but only got glimpses of them. About 9:30 a.m. saw one which didn't go down its hole, then another by a clump of brush, and a third ran across the grass and stopped in the open. This one is PCB 698. This is not the same squirrel that is at Jacob's Meadow - at least I don't think so.
