Banks 1959 Zonotrichia leucophrys 36 July 3 Harts Pass, 6200 ft. Okanogan Co., Wash. - Very little activity this morning. Heard very little singing. As I approached one spot from where I heard a song, a bird flew past me and landed in the grass, 672. This bird has black lores and seems to be oviatha. All afternoon, I did not see any or hear any of this species. July 4 Left the pass about 9:30 a.m. On my way down the mountain, below Loyalton, at a spot 3.8 mi. down from the pass, I heard White-crowned singing. The meadows here are quite extensive and the birds seemed very common. But being on my way home, and pressed for time, I could not stop. July 4 The Dalles, Oregon - Jewett & Taylor mention this area as a possible oviatha site as well as prafetensis area. The letter may be here, along the river, but from my casual views as I was driving thru on Rt. 97, there is definitely no oviatha country in the area. Mt. Hood, not far distant, may have oviatha
