1 mi S Shore Acres, 500+ft., 600 S. Oregon
As I was walking up the slope thru the
brush, 538 flushed & perched in a Rhododendron.
539 was one of 2 chipping birds - I think they
hard young out of the nest. There is
another pair of birds very close here - they keep
getting mixed up, so I can't tell which is
which. Saw barely flying young in an
area which seems midway between the 2 pairs.
2 mi S Shore Acres, 700+ft., 600 S. Oregon
Continued on this trail until nearly dark. It
goes past Cape Arago, giving a good view.
541 was one of two birds which flushed.
1 mi S Shore Acres, 500+ft., 600 S. Oregon - Bird
singing here until 9:30pm, when it was nearly
dark.
June 16
543 sang from the top of a charred stump.
It's mate flushed & immediately disappeared.
544 was chipping in alarm, very close to the
site of collection of 539. I believe it is one
of the other pair mentioned above. This is just
within the large valley. 545 was one of 2 birds
in what seemed to be courtship behavior.
A bird flushed from under a log, and flew to
a small ravine. It was joined in chipping
there by at least 2 others, one of which sang
occasionally. I am beginning to wonder if
some of these birds nest in threesome. Or
