Brooks Island San Francisco Bay, Calif.
After leaving Red Rock came here. Arrived
about 1200, stayed until 1430. Here I spent
all my time working in the Indian shell
mound deposits. Dug out many fragments
of bird bones, also some fish vertebrae
and part of a sea otter skull. Paul dug
out some human remains and artifacts.
Along the edge of the mound the tide
is washing things away, and many
bones are just lying among the shells
that make up the beach line. Saw in
the bay horned geese, Bufflehead.
