2.2 mi NW Bolinas, 300+ ft., Marin Co., Caly. -
May 1. #4 today is PCB 399. F, to.10x6, wt.28.1 gm. This
bird was shot from the road in the morning.
Put up fresh- all others were frozen. Bird #7 of
this trip is PCB 400. This F, te. 8x6, no fat, 28.0 gm,
was shot in company with another bird,
just after I had heard from them sounds of
begging ly or actually of copulation. The
other bird was not obtained. Bird # 2 is
PCB401. This bird was singing atop a shrub
the the shrubby pasture. It was a F, 27.2 gm,
with to.about 10x? mm., very slightly fat. No.
3 is now PCB 402. Shot from along the road, it
is a F with slight fat, concentrated on the
feather tracts, and was 1.5+3 mm. Broad
patch well developed. Wt. 27.5 gm. Bird # 5
is PCB 403- F, te.9x5, wt.30.1 gm. This bird was shot
from car, near the entrance to the RRA tower area.
#7+8, a mated pair, were shot along road- she had
well developed broad patch, recently broken follicle, he
had 9x7mm testes + large cloacal protuberance. #14
was shot in a brushy field, low on the slope, and
was F (PCB 406) with te. 9x6 mm., wt.30.9 gm. #13 was
shot near 14, of a different pair, (PCB 407), it is a F
of 31.0gm. with testes 9x5. Neither showed fat.
Another pair, PCB 408-9 were shot along road. She
was first, about noon- had what appeared to be a
fecal piece in bill. Saw him but couldn't get a shot.
