18 Apr.
1 mi E Pebble Beach, Vias Ranch, 250ft., San Mateo Co., Calif.
in the fields. There were a number of
pairs - almost appearing like a flock- lining
the road, but all were extremely wary
and the brush was very thick.
Lmi Wagoners Beach, 150ft. San Mateo Co., Calif. - Shot
#15 for day ( ) in flat open brush area, close
tonches #wes. Next morning, got #16, in
same area. Birds still plentiful here,
but wary- could not get close enough
for a shot.
Pebble Beach, San Mateo Co., Calif. - Got a
pair here (17-18) and saw a large
number, apparently together, in brush
about 100 yds. inland from road. This
appears to be a flock, since they are all
together and don't object to one another.
A few golden-crowns with them.
Lmi & Pebble Beach, Vias Ranch, 250ft., San Mateo Co.
Saw Golden-crowns near here also. Shot
bird #19 (#382) from fence post. Many
white-crowns in brush along road,
a few making regular trips to certain
areas as if gathering food, - the others
just sitting.
