2. Zonotrichia leucophrys 18gm. N Ponderosa Beach, 150 ft., San Mateo C., Caly. There are a lot of birds here. Got first bird. (#7- ) in open brush. #s 8-12 were along fence near A, atop a cliff formed by the road cut. This strip 100+ yds. long had 4 or 5 pr. of birds in it. These birds flew across the road (at 1), where other birds were sitting. They did not fly far (30 yds. or so) along the fence. Birds from the fence A also fed in the grass, sharing it with the birds living on the other side, in the brush along the cliff top. When disturbed, some flew to each side. No conflicts when feeding together. So, the nesting area seems to be strictly territorial, along the fence, but they feed together + may take shelter across the road. Lori & Pebble Beach, WrasPeach, 250 ft. San Mateo C., Calif. Got 2 birds here, #3+14, both along the 'Old West Road'. They seem to be concentrated here, + are almost entirely absent in the brush
