Zonotrichia allicollis
Apr. 11 Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co., Calif. - just
before noon heard this species singing
on the N-facing slope, toward the bottom
of the canyon, close to the tennis courts. I
went to the area, and the bird responded
to squeaking; it was in the brush
and low trees. The white throat patch
was very evident, but I couldn't see
much else. The song had two notes
to begin, the first highest, then series
of 3 notes each, lower than either of the
introductory notes, so: -- -- -- -- -- - --
The bird sang quite often, but not
very regularly. Jerry Brown also
heard it.
