Spinus pinus
June 15 Innis, Shore Acres, Coos Co., Oregon - obtained
one specimen in the clear-cut, burned, brushy
area here, ROB 540. It was feeding on a
dandelion-like plant. This is the only one of
this species I have seen been so far.
This bird
turned out to be a B, very fat, with testes 6x4mm.
It's crop was very full of seeds, mostly of the
plant he was feeding on when shot, but some larger
things also.
July 2 White Pass, brook, Croatan Co., Wash - obtained one
dupair in a jump of D. Fins. The birds seem
quite abundant here.
