Leucostite tephrostis
1.
July 2 Slate Peak, 6900+ft., Okanogan Co., Wash.
As I was walking up this road to this peak
from Harts Pass, groups of 3 + 4 of these birds
flew across the road ahead of me and
settled in the rocks/talus" where blasting
and bulldozing had shoved them over the
side. The birds were blown by fairly
heavy wind as they flew. One or two alighted
on the tops of small (3-4ft.) trees, but almost
immediately went to the ground. I obtained
one bird, 666, and the others took flight in
a flock - estimated 25. Elevation is
estimated.
