Banks 1959 Black-capped Chickadee Poecile atricapillus 3. 1mi N, 1mi W Fort Dick, sea level, Del Norte Co., Calif. June 11 Have heard these birds several times in the last couple days. This is the first one I have seen. It was shot while giving a -- call from an older in a small grove. Another is here, also giving same call. RCB 504. Late, in the afternoon, saw near camp, where I have heard them previously, carrying food in its mouth. Shortly after this one was foraging in the redwood just over my head. There are also Chestnut- backed Chickadees here - I saw a family of them in the morning.
