Calif. Quail
May 1, 2.2mi NW Bolinas, 300±ft., Marin Co., Calif.
Flushed a covey of about 30 quail in
a draw. It seems late for covies. Also, at
different places, saw paired birds.
May 10 Mouth, Ten Mile Prairie, sea level, Mendocino Co., Calif.
A good number of these birds here. Most of
them are in pairs, but a couple of times
saw as many as 6 adults together.
June 25 Kyte Bay, Comox, Vancouver Island, B.C.
I have seen these birds in good numbers in
cleared areas over the east side of the island.
Today saw chicks, barely dry, very small.
