ways by riparian woods. I got six this
afternoon, REB 479-484. Some have tripper
lateral, some 8. All are very buffy or orangish
around the neck. Most if there are, I think,
June 10 gravel 47. III at 5 pm. today took 3 more
snakes from the same area. The sun hit this
spot nearly all day. REB 496-498.
June 12 As I was approaching this spot about 5 today,
there were 2 cats, over there, and I could find
no snakes. A ways west, however, in
brushy weedy pasture, I found one garter snake
under some pieces of bark. This is REB 518.
This is small, seems different from the others.
June 13 But one snake in the brushy land not too
far from # 518, (# 520) and three more in
the first place at the bend of the road.
These are REB 521-523.
June 16 Lin's Shoe Acres, 500 ft. Coos Co., Oregon - There
is a small deep running over the side of the
granny tree. As I was going along looking for frogs,
saw a very small garter snake in the grass.
It is now REB 553. Have seen a few other
garter snakes in the general area, but have I
been able to obtain them.
June 18 Metato Bay spit sea level, Tillamook Co., Oregon -
Caught one of 2 snakes seen, REB 587. This seems
to be a different species, its stripes being orange.
