Banks 1954 Journal July 8 .8 mi's Kaiser Pass, 8500 ft., Fresno Co. Caly. This is the location of my camp. It is a nice area, near a stream and small meadow, with a rocky, grassy slope across the road. It is 1.1 road miles from the pass, between the pass and Badger Flat. Got here just as the sun went behind the hill. The company is mostly open, but there are 5 large trees (3 pine, 2 redwood) which give shelter most of the day. July 9 Kaiser Pass Meadow, 9100 ft., Fresno Co. Caly. Got here at 6:30 to collect. The meadow lies just beyond the pass. It is quite extensive, with pine bordering and intruding. The meadow is very wet - there is 2 or 3 inches of water in places and is grass and flowers up to 4" high. White- crowns are in the pines all around. There are a few small streams running thru the meadow, with frogs in the deeper pools. Saw the following birds: Mountain Chickadee Cassinia Finch Hermit Thrush White-Breasted Nuthatch Robin Oregon Junco Mt. Bluebird White-Crowned Sparrow Brown Creeper Chipping Sparrow Breuer Blackbird W.
