Saw: Pileated Woodpecker, Sooty Grouse L.(1), Egg Sparrow, Olive-sided Flycatcher, White Wren Yellowthroat. These were not within the park, but about 1/2 mi E. June 27 11 1/2 mi W Parksville, Vancouver Is., BC - This is the locality where I got the Zonotrichia and Geriflorio yesterday. Revisited the area this morning, got another White-crown, and a Thamnophis. When I awoke the sky was clear & the sun was shining. While collecting, a storm moved in from the west - when I got back to the car it was sprinkling, and at camp, 1/2 mi. away, raining quite hard. Now 10am, still raining hard. Rained till noon. After lunch I took a drive across the island to the Alberni area, going as far south as possible to the edge of Port Alberni, and north almost to Gheat Central. Across the island is big and large wooded, but the Alberni Valley has a lot of clearing and a fairly large population. Tried to stop at couple places on way back,
