Banks 1954 25. Journal June 25 Ladysmith, Vancouver Island, B.C., vicinity Drove around this area from my camp 1 mi. N of town to several miles south, looking for places to shoot White-crowned Sparrows. The landscape is mostly forest. Most of the clear areas are on small farms, or just around houses, no adequate place to shoot. Areas that have been logged are very brushy, with many fallen logs and stumps and tops, almost impossible to get thru. My birds were abundant, but no place to shoot them. Found 2 places and got a total of 5 sparrows by noon. See catalog + species account. Left this camp & drove to Vernimo about 4 pm., drove on to Qualicum.
