June 16 1 mi. S Shore Acres, 500 ft., Coos Co., Oregon
June 17 Still didn't get done. Ill Worked till afternoon finishing shins + steps. New birds for the area yesterday - Orange-crowned Warbler, Steller Jay, Cedar Waxwing.
Talked to the park ranger about the cutting and burning of my collecting area. He had no idea of when it occurred, but it was a long time ago (70's perhaps). Bruce Barker, the park foreman, brought his family around to see my operation. Unfortunately I had finished, but showed them my results. They spoke of birds that were probably the Towhee + Bullock Oriole /see sp account). The older boy also knew where to find "Water Dogs".
Left this area about 3 p.m., after catching a Genbontus in the 8 shower room. Stopped at the Coos Bay Marine Station to see Cadet Ward + family. It was 4pm by the time I got away. Shortly after leaving the city of North Bend, it became overcast + foggy. It was that way plus occasional drizzles, all the way to Tillamook Co., where I am camped at Cape Lookout State Park, S N of the town of Tillamook, + where I am writing. Got there about 8pm, pitched camp in dark, almost in rain.
