Banks 1959 8. Journal May 24 Hossah, 3600ft, Iris, Irie & Hobart Mills, Nevada C, Calif. and the hill on flatland adjacent is covered with sage or sage + pine. The stream valley, in fact the whole area, has been grazed, but not too recently. Middle Marts C., 6000ft, 4mi E, & 2mi S Truckee Place, Ca, Wolf. Spent 3pm - 4:30 looking around here. We were right on the edge of Marts Valley. The valley floor is pretty flat + sage covered, the slopes pine covered. Several streams in area have willow and/or aspen along them - on this stream, as it got higher there was more aspen, but was thicker - saw no White-Crowns here. Downstream, where there was sage on one side of the creek, there was more willow, less aspen - saw birds here.
