Banks 1954 Journal Feb. 5 5 mi Nt Vallejo, Solano Co., Calif. - Dan Wilkoff and I went out shooting birds for 113 in this area, saw many large flocks of Redwings and Brewer Blackbirds, but they would not let us approach very close - we were too late in the day (8-11 A.M.) They were mainly in pasture with cattle or in young wheat (?) fields. Also saw many Western Meadowlarks, Horned Larks, and smaller members of: Zonotrichia, Passer, Emberiza, Shrikes, Lesser Goldfinch, Oregon Junco, Andaman Warbler, Sparrow Hawk, Polio, Savannah Sparrow + Red Tailed Hawk. Asterisks* represent species we shot. I saved one Horned Lark to put up (#379 #) Apr 18 Pasacadero area, San Mateo Co., Calif. - Arrived here today about 7:30 A.M. Warm & sunny, but windy. There is very little place to shoot birds here - the road is very close to the ocean, and inland from the road is all farmed and/or posted. First collecting area was Pelle Beach where I got 6 Zonotrichia leucophrys. Also saw many Song Sparrows, Amer. Goldfinch, Yellowthroat, Marsh Hawk, Red Tailed Hawk, Brewer Blackbird, Iboree Finch, Golden-Crowned Sparrow (10+) 3 Black Buntings (?) and Western Gulls. Further up the road saw Flier. Second shooting area N Pomponio Beach. This is a high
