Sciurus douglasii
quercus
July 22. 3 mi S Mt. Rose, 8500 ft., Washoe Co., Nevada
At approximately 3:50 p.m. I shot one ♂ (5'5') which was
digging in the decayed wood in the heart of a fallen yellow
pine which was hollow. The fallen tree lay at the base of
a slope covered with granite boulders. I spent
2½ hours within a quarter of a mile of this spot and this
was the only squirrel seen.
