Arctic Fox
Barrow, Alaska
about stake number 2.0. From here the
fox walked to stake 10.0 following the
transect in a straight line and seemingly
visiting all the traps. Then, the fox went
to the vicinity of stakes 9.0 of transect
X and followed the trapline to
the area of stake 1.0. Upon
checking the two traplines not a
single bird (or lemming, if such occurred)
remained in the trap. Thirty five traps
showed signs of a bird having been
eaten from the trap. Also 39 traps
were missing - apparently having had
birds in them which were carried off
by the foxes.
