J.M.Brock 1958 Arctic Fox June 11 Barrow, Alaska While I was at Wainright, Bill Maher told me that he had seen five fox on a weasel trip out into the tundra at Barrow. June 15 Max Brewer states that he saw a fox behind the Barrow garbage dump. June 18 David Schalk states that he saw a fox out on the tundra yesterday. June 20 Fox seen about 200 yards south of Transect X. Apparently was hunting and pawing at the ground, then walked slowly on. Always slowly walking and looking at the ground until it saw us. It then stopped and stand at us, walked a hundred feet more and stopped to look at us. Continued to walk circling the lake just west of Transect X. May have been same fox seen by Schalk since he had described it as having a large black rump patch which this one also had due to molting hair. The entire animal looked very shaggy due to the molting hairs. June 22 Yesterday while I was checking trapline I discovered a longspur nest when I accidentally flush off the female parent while checking the trapline today, I
