Raising of youngs
Litter 4

A.R.H. Barrow, Northern Alaska
Aug 24
A new litter was found today
in an aquarium which has
had a pair of lemings in it
since July 2 when a female
was brought back from Pitt Point
and placed in an aquarium
with a male subadult caught
at Barrow on June 24. At
least three new born youngs were
noted- being so young that
the litter may not yet have been
completely dropped.

Today only a piece of one young one
could be found. My mistake was
probably in not removing the male
right away because it was noted
that the male was chasing the female
about and that they were making
moves as if they were not getting along.
Also as mentioned yesterday, my
disturbance was at a very critical time.
