Raising 2 youngs
litter 2
July 13 A.R.L. Barrow, northern Alaska
to the other end of the aquarium and acts
severous. These disturbances may have
caused the loss of three in the first
litter.
July 16 All six still alive - naked (hairless),
eyes closed. Only two weighed for fear
of disturbing female too much. One
weighed 3.9 grams the other 4.5 grams
July 18 All six still alive, fully haired, a
very brownish colored hair with a
median dorsal dark line running
over the head and only half length
of the body. Two youngs were weighed
one 5.0 grams the other 5.4 grams
July 21 All six alive - two weighed, one 6.4 gr
the other 6.7 grams. All are fully haired
toes no longer fused and eyes still closed.
The hair for some reason or another on these
eight day old lemmings is quite brown
with a short dorso-median dark line while
the study skin of the 16 day old from
litter one is quite grey.
July 23 Two youngs weighed, one 6.5g the other
5.2g, both have eyes closed, are very brown
July 25 Two youngs weighed about 6.0 g each
They are very active now and their
eyes are just opening. All are up and
