June 27 About four miles upstream on the Mead River were the willows line the banks in abundance, we noticed the red polls as very common. Tom and I had taken a boat trip to this vicinity from our base camp back at Atkasuk June 29 Red polls were noticed as common in the willows lining the banks of the river next to the village.
