E.M.Brock 1957 Longspurs calcarius lapponicus alascensis A.R.H. Pt. Barrow, Alaska May 27 On short trips about camp, going about two miles SE of A.R.H. approximately five longspurs were noticed. May 28 Longspurs noticed on trips about four miles south of Barrow village. Maybe two more seen after turning east and going back to A.R.H. June 9 Atkasek, Mead River Coal Mine, Alaska A longspur nest with five eggs in it was discovered just across the stream at the west end of the Atkasek air strip. Nest was lined with feathers. Was found when female flushed from the location June 12 Bill Maker found a longspur nest approximately 200 yards from north east of our camp. The nest had five eggs in it. I also discovered another longspur nest in the slope leading to the fuel water stream on the south side of the village. The nest had four eggs inside. June 19 I found a nest about 200 yards north of the coal mine, which had four eggs and one very newly hatched young in it. The shell from the new hatched young had apparently been discarded. When the female flushed it started a type of broken wing routine
