Shrike
Aug 25 Pitmeza River, Cape Sabine, Alaska
I took a walk from the camp site
(see H. Childs journal) upstream along
the Pitmeza. On the other side of the
second tributary (waded knee deep), about
1.5-2 miles south of the camp, I noticed
a Shrike hovering overhead then dive and
perch on willow brush next to the stream.
It was obtained with the help of a shotgun
and later prepared as a study skin.
