E.M. Brock 1958 July 30 Barrows, Alaska while running the tripline. It then flew off to the east. August 1 Owl seen on mound near Shanks spelonies just east of transects VII and VIII August 2 Owl seen at north end of Central Marsh near Beach Ridge. Another seen in same area later or assumed to be same bird. August 4 Owl seen at north end of Central Marsh near Beach Ridge. A pair of owls also seen on a mound near mouth of Volschlag Slough. Another pair (different from aforementioned) seen about one miles north from mouth of Volschlag Slough. Later when this latter area was approached it was discovered that one of the owls had been feeding on an eider duck. Duck was probably a wounded duck from eskimo shooting at point. August 5 Same pair of owls seen on same mound at mouth of Volschlag Slough. Also one owl seen again at one mile north of mouth of Volschlag Slough. August 11 Two snowy owls seen about 1/4 mile north of transects V and VI August 16 Wainwright, Alaska While Neil Solman and I were setting out
