E. M. Brock 1957 Snowy Owls 4 July 10 Banow, Northern Alaska Time much further west but still in same general area. Because they were too far away, no attempt was made to approach them. July 11 Both owls once again observed in vicinity of Voth area. When first seen one owl was about 500 yards west of Transsects VII A + B. July 14 Four snowy owls were shipped to A.R.H. from Pitt Point - only three survived the trip, the fourth was prepared as a study skin. Mark would like to keep these birds alive "in display" According to Bill Mahan, who was at Pitt Point recently. The snowy owls were very abundant there. But now comes the report (how valid, I'm not sure) that lemmings are becoming more scarce and that fledglings snowy owls have been found dead along side "several nests" July 15 Saw snowy owl flying east over Voth area, continue east and then fly south. July 16 While in area of marsh plot, I saw a snowy owl about 300 yards north of Transsect VII seated on ground and
