Glaucons-winged Gull
Larus glaucescens
A.R.H. Pt. Barrow, Alaska
May 27
First seen today while arriving at Barrow.
A group of 3-5 were seen flying over
the Pt. Barrow area.
May 28
A group of about 15-20 were seen sitting
and standing beyond the camp area,
just south of the construction camp areas
were A.R.H is located. As pointed out by
Maketa all were located not on the tundra
but rather on the surface of the frozen lake
near our camp and also that all of the
birds were adults
May 30
A congregation of about 40-50 gulls
observed on the ground and in the air
immediately south of the A.R.H. Upon
investigation, nothing I could find no
reason for their gathering there.
