Atkasuk, Mead River Coal Mine, Alaska
Long-tailed jaeger seen for first time flying
slowly by - was not hunting, yet only
delins in area.
June 27
Two long-tailed jaegers seen flying about
in area about four miles SE of Atkasuk.
July 6
Barrow, Alaska
Two long-tailed jaegers seen in Central Marsh. One had the very typical
very long tail while its companion seemed
to be immature and lacked a fully
developed long tail.
July 12
Jim Myers reports seeing three pair
longtails at the point.
July 17
Pitt Point, Alaska
One pair of longtails observed flying
by about three miles south west of station.
Aug 18
Wainwright, Alaska
The first jaeger seen at Wainwright on
this trip was a longtail seen over Traveler
II in the evening. The jaeger was
reported by Brad Solomon.
Aug 20
Left Wainwright today. The only predator
bird I saw during my one weeks
stay, was one snowy owl at a distance.
