E.M. Brock 1958 Red Phalarope June 11 Wainwright, Alaska The phalaropes are very common and abundant but at Wainwright whereas I hadn't seen any at Barrow at the time I left. The testes were measured on a phalarope caught in a snap trap yesterday. One testis was 7mm and the other 10mm. June 14 Testes measurements of one male phalarope caught in a snap trap today were 12mm x 7mm and 11 x 7. An egg measuring 7mm and several large follicles, the largest 4mm, were observed in a ? phalarope caught in a snap trap. June 15 A female phalarope from a snap trap showed no ruptured follicles, no brood patch and had a measurement of 2mm for the largest follicle. June 17 Barrow, Alaska Phalaropes noticed in large flocks in Central Marsh today. Bill Mekar states he had not noticed flocking yesterday. Also he points out (a fact I also observed today) that the females greatly outnumber the males. June 18 Very few groups noticed today, the ones seen were small groups and a few that were
