M Brock 1957 Red Phalarope 2 July 3 Barrow, Northern Alaska All four eggs are still unatched in desert mentioned July 1 July 4 All four eggs still unatched went on trip to Post-Rogers Monument with A.R.L. people and saw an adult, and two well developed chicks following for the adult. This was about half way to the monument. July 5 The four eggs mentioned July 1 are still unatched July 9 For the first time the phalaropes have been noticed flocking. While I was near transect III A+B a group of about 50-75 was seen flying back and forth and landing on a small pond, taking off again and coming back to the pond and feeding July 12 A male followed by four very young chicks was observed just south north of Transect D-B in marshy grass area. July 20 Up to this date I have been catching many red-backed sandpiper juveniles in my traps but today I caught the first juvenile red phalarope July 21 Another red phalarope juvenile trapped July 22 Whereas before July 20, no juveniles red phalaropes had been caught, today caught two in snap traps.
