Northern Phalarope
June 27 Anchorage, Mead River Coal Mine, Alaska
Pair noticed in grassy pond near Sabine gull nest and Arctic tern nest. Large pond about 10 inches deep and very grassy tall growth in pond. Other birds present were dowitchers,
old gulls, red phalaropes, golden plovers and small sandpipers, either Baird's or semipalmated.
June 28 A phalarope shot near Worigan. It was a male with testes measuring 7 x 3 mm yet it had two large brood patches. It was prepared as a study skin.
