E. M. Brock 1957 Pectoral Sandpiper Atkasuke, Head River Co., Alaska June 14 While I was checking Transect VII and was close to stack 2, I saw a pectoral sandpiper go into the broken wing act. After about three quarters of an hour searching I finally discovered the nest. During my searching the bird continually went through it broken wing act and rapidly walking away in the opposite direction. At the same time, though, the bird would take time out to preen, feed and scratch itself, thus not continually keeping up her act. The nest contained four medium sized, pear shaped, greenish colored (with dark brown splotches) eggs arranged in a circle with the tapered end in. The nest was located on fairly dry sphagnum surrounded by Eriophorum grass. The nest was composed entirely of willow leaves just laid down. Eggs were collected June 30 Barrow, Northern Alaska nest with four eggs found '1/2 north of Transects V and VI. Nest is on beach edge none of the eggs have hatched yet July 1 All eggs still intact. Females goes into broken wing act and dragging tail each time I approach. July 2 All 4 eggs still unhatched
