E.M. Brock 1958 Knot Aug 1 Banow, Alaska When this bird was first seen in the field on the shore of Fresh Water Lake, the most prominent feature of its fall plumage was the striking scale pattern on the back. The bird was collected and prepared as a study skin. Aug 31 Two more of the same birds in their apparent fall plumage noted on the ocean shoreline running about the shore along with the sandpipers which seem to have arrived just recently. One knot was collected - the other was also shot but flew away.
