E.M.Brock 1957 Stellar's Eider Barnow, Northern Alaska July 18 While in Voth area, I observed four parasitic "jaegers" dive bombing an area. From where I was located I could not tell what their target was. When I approached the area, the jaegers left the vicinity and then I observed a female stellar eider "limping" away. After a little investigation, I discovered the duck's nest with four light green eggs. The nest was constructed of dark downy feathers. July 20 Nest mentioned above looked at and all four eggs are still unhatched, July 23 Above mentioned nest checked today. One very dark brown duckling was in the nest with the broken egg still lying in the nest. The other three eggs were still unhatched. The female eider stood close by eyeing me.
