Great Blue Heron
Wainwright, Alaska
was a ball of hair one inch in diameter
two balls .5 inch in diameter and
about a dozen small balls of hair about
1/4 inch in diameter. After these balls
of hair were dried the very characteristic
red lemming coloration was noticed.
Also in the stomach was a large wad
of grass (probably a sedge) plus
several chironomids. Also there was
the remains of two small fish
vertebrate - most likely sticklebacks.
