M.Brock 1958 July 17 Pacific Loon 2 Pitt Point, Alaska was about 10" deep. The island was about 200 to 300 feet from the nearest shore. As we approached the island, the loon insisted on staying on the nest until we were about 200 feet from her. Also on the island was a duck's nest which contained two fresh eggs, which had very recently been broken (but not eaten).
