Aug 26 Pitmegea River, Cape Sabine, Alaska
Waited for plane, which did not come today
Because I was expecting the plane I did not
go far from the camp nor did I prepare
any study skins. Collected one wheatear near
camp.
Aug 27 Waited for plane, which did not come today,
nor much accomplished.
Aug 28 Waited for plane but decided to start preparing
study skins as I had given up expecting
the plane. Prepared the shrike and a Microtus
Caught a live shrew in tent. Plane
came while I was preparing study skins. Dis-
smantled camp, cached a large portion for
a future flight. Flew back to Barrow
Aug 29 Barrow, Alaska
Prepared study skin of Microtus shrew
and prepared a skeleton of one of the wheatears.
Picked up traps III A and III B which
have been out since the 23rd - six days.
On the 24th, the day after the traps had been
set out, I was wisked off to the Pitmegea and
therefore the traps have not been checked over
since they were put out - six days ago. Only
one trap was missing and only about eight
traps were off from both lines. Seven birds
were taken from both lines. No lemmings
