July 25 Barow, Alaska
Skinned Lemmings meat of the day.
I processed those lemmings that were
taken by merl Solomon in late September
of 1957. He caught 85 and 95
Lemming respectively from two trqilines.
These lemmings are, of course, in much
better condition than those processed
yesterday and, therefore, all skins are
being saved.
Made a trip to the "Duck Camp" along
with Adam Lewitt to act as an interpreter.
I made a count of the composition of
their duck kill: 299 or king eiders,
25 or Pacific eiders, 6 or spectacled eiders,
1 or Pintail, 2 red-throated loons and
about 5 thick billed murres, one of which
I bought for a dollar. All of these birds have
been killed within the week and are
hanging on racks & awaiting to be
hauled to the village.
July 26
Prepared study skin of the thick-billed
murre bought yesterday at the duck camp.
Processed lemmings all day, prepared two
as study skins.
July 27
Processed a few lemmings. Prepared study
skin of a pigeon guillemot brought in from
